You are right to be angry about the Australian Government's shortcomings, Suit. I dont see a Dutton government doing any better, the complexity of this will be beyond that bunch of dills.

ILU is dragging its feet on the refinery because nobody will commit to a non-China market and pricing. All Fascist China has to do is offer their REEs $1 cheaper and manufacturers will vote with their cheque book.
China has been happy to dick around with supply into the Germanium and Gallium markets which they do not control, but not REEs. Here is their chance to strangle advanced manufacturing in the West at any time of their choosing. We know it, they know it.
Australia and allied governments have the capacity to fix this. Find the will.
Just look at Ukraine - those amazing drones use super magnets (REEs) in their motors. All supply comes out of bloody China.
We are terribly, terribly exposed.
