One thing I’m surprised hasn’t come up recently (especially from Timorlad) is the fact that there were once major plans to build a cement plant near Baucau, alongside significant limestone exports. That project never got off the ground — partly due to environmental concerns and pushback from the local community.This time around, with Estrella operating under Timor-Leste’s new mining code, and seemingly taking a more structured, consultative approach, there’s reason to hope things will be done right.If approvals come through and they handle community engagement properly, this limestone opportunity could quietly become a very real part of the story — and help fund the manganese push at the same time.Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
