Lots of figures and comparisons- but basically seems to suggest little growth in inner city crossings during peak hours with extended travel times.
To me this could imply that our roads and crossings may have reached capacity some time back and the need for an alternative route is long overdue.I would draw this conclusion from the fact that with minimal growth in traffic there has been an abnormal growth in travel time.
"As traffic volumes are steady or declining, the increase in travel times and travel time variability would be a counter-intuitive result, if available road capacity were unchanged. The travel time surveys support a conclusion that traffic growth in the Inner City is constrained by network capacity and that roadworks have adversely affected traffic patterns"
Looks to me as though this project should capture a good percentage of the market and enable Brisbane drivers to traverse the city in a less frustrating and time consuming manner.
