For the fellow nerds out there, I found this chart very interesting and exciting.
LFP batteries are the future of EV's. They have no nickel or cobalt, which makes them cheaper and more sustainable.
More importantly for the EV purists LFP batteries degrade at a much slower rate than traditional NCM batteries - this means that your new Tesla with a LFP battery will likely have most of its capacity still after 100,000km and will possibly last you close to 1M km - not that anyone keeps a car that long. The biggest plus for me is that you can charge them to 100% all the time without degrading the battery.
What has held LFP batteries back is their lower energy density and slower charging rates, this is about to change. CATL has a new LFP battery with energy density similar to NCM and charges at 4C which is quicker than most existing Chargers will be able to charge at.
Expect to see this new battery in the next Tesla Model Y, which is now the worlds best selling car.
For TIVAN holders, nerd or otherwise the take away is that LFP batteries are now the future of EV's. LFP batteries need more Florite than any other lithium battery
