Most forget to see the forest from the trees when one focuses on just one. The simple fact is, a rising tide lifts all boats. Even one in desperate need of repairs like TWE. We can see this clearly on a day like today.
Invest on TWE as part of the forest (portfolio) as a whole and you can't go wrong. She provides a good anti correlation to the growth stocks in my portfolio at the moment. Just think about it this way, a team of Michael Jordans will never win a championship consistently. When you run a long portfolio (and I mean long 5+ years), you need some low Beta support companies in there to act as shock absorbers on the way up and most definitely on the way down. Sometimes when your star players has an off night this one comes of the bench putting scores on the boards as the market then plays the value game. Yes you would have made more on the high growth ones but those will have Alpha risks along the way the needs to be mitigated.
I do understand that what I'm trying to say here won't hit won't stick between the ears to most. One day when your portfolio hits 5-10mil you will understand what I'm trying to say above as you will be forced to play the portfolio management game instead...
