It makes for a great story how the company stumble upon the 130m of surface copper exposed by the grader.
The mineralised basement rock is completely covered by the sedimentary rocks of the Georgina Basin. The copper oxide or malachite rocks they found must have migrated up a fault line from the basement below. I imagine movement at the fault slowly causing upward movement of the rocks below.
It cant be overstated how important this find is in terms of pinpointing drilling targets when there is 500m of cover sitting on the rocks you want to drill. This is a problem our neighbours are having. With so many targets that are so big they really are shooting blind with the drill and hoping for hits. As far as I know this is the only evidence of significant mineralisation found on surface from the basement rock below in the whole region. Am very excited to see if we can drill a hole into the source of this. Fingers crossed.
