agreed Strange, perhaps no counter bid coming... but completing the formalities of lodging a trumped bid. You would have thought if they were serious they would have pulled original documentation with a letter or some such thing...

Or perhaps legal eagles require them to lodge all offers - including already bettered ones... their lead times from announcement of offer to release are really pretty poor.
