Probably at risk at going off topic here but there are some good resources to examine the different effects private vs public debt out there.
Things to remember too, an asset much like shares can be highly variable, debt on the other hand remains fixed in value. The private debt bubble is mainly property but at credit cards also play a role too. The theory holds that the damage occurs as the concerted efforts to repay the debt at the expense of consuming and this is starting to play out now.
