One of the more intriguing comments made by the Labour mp was in response to the question about how he justifies the EPL policy with specific reference to UK North Sea independents. In a nutshell, he kept on referring to taxing big oil ie Shell and BP and not targeting the independents but as the interviewer points out, the policy affects everyone, not just big oil, and especially the supply chain. Needless to say, he kept on deflecting and pointing back at big oil.
Maybe I’m a born optimist but it seems that Labour are unable to find a solution to the “one shoe fits all” strategy that they’ve employed. Perhaps there is room for carve outs ?
