I hope you are right, but it remains to be seen. Nobody knows what could happen between decommissioning and successful recommissioning. There is a lot of execution, budget and schedule risk in decommissioning, transporting, then recommissioning the XTClave, especially if more urgent orders come through while it is in transit. Building an XTClave 2.0 would give us the opportunity to improve the design too.
This is the most geopolitically unstable time since the 70s (at the least). A 2nd manufacturing location half a world away provides a lot of flexibility. It could more than double production rate as well as quantity. The way things are going we might urgently need the extra capacity.
Let's hope we don't look back and regret the decision to close Adelaide.
