Si6 ramps up geophysical work ahead of Botswana drilling
    Mining
    Special Report

Si6 is continuing a multi-faceted geophysical program targeting deeper mineralisation at its Maibele project in Botswana ahead of RC and diamond drilling.

Si6 Metals (ASX:SI6) has mobilised crews to site to carry out various geophysical surveys at Maibele North Ni/Cu/Co/PGM, Airstrip Cu/Ag and Dibete Cu/Ag. Maibele North is just east of Airstrip whilst Dibete is 7km to the south of Airstrip.

Si6 has commenced an Audio-frequency Magnetotellurics (AMT) survey across the entire Maibele North prospect and will also recommence an electromagnetic survey to test for off-hole conductors which was temporarily halted due to a blockage. AMT is a high-resolution electromagnetic sounding method that is particularly effective in mapping the earth’s crust from 20m to 1,500m.

Si6 completed a Gradient Array Induced Polarisation (IP) survey across the Airstrip and Dibete prospects in late 2020 which detected numerous anomalous chargeability zones across both prospects. This is now being followed up with two lines of Pole-Dipole IP across each targeted anomaly.

Airstrip has had minimal work for over 7 years with one of the discovery holes in 2010 returning 7m at 11.8% Cu and 717 g/t Ag from 52m (ARC003) – see ASX announcement 22 April 2010. Likewise, one of Dibete’s discovery holes was 18m @ 1.78% Cu and 28.9 g/t Ag from 24m (DBR006) – see ASX announcement 28 October 2010.

“There is plenty of activity on the ground in Botswana with our geophysical programs designed to locate deep sulphide mineralisation for follow-up drill testing,” Executive Chairman Patrick Holywell said.

“We then intend on following up the geophysical targets with a combination of RC and diamond drilling immediately after the current surveys and interpretations are complete.”

Maibele North nickel sulphide mineralisation is related to ultramafic intrusions within mobile belt rocks and is broadly similar in style to other ultramafic intrusion-related mobile belt nickel discoveries such as IGO’s Nova-Bollinger (ASX:IGO), Chalice Mining’s Julimar (ASX:CHN) and the globally significant Thompson Belt in Canada.
