If you purchased at say $0.10 and the share slowly dropped to $0.03. Some good news can push the price up by a few cents to say $0.06, your now $0.04 away from what you paid originally.
Post consolidation:
Your purchased is now $1.00 (was $0.10) and the share slowly dropped to 0.30 (was $0.03). Some good news can push the price up by a few cents to say $0.36, your now $0.74 away from what you paid originally.
