If you really want to summarise all of this succinctly, for BHP to boom you need the USD to collapse.
Look at all the past booms in BHP's price, it always coincides with the USD going down (allowing for global consumption of commodities = volume). Interestingly, the USD has taken a bit of a hit lately and that is yet to be reflected in BHP's price:
