In my mind the carnival kicks into gear on Caulfield Guineas day which is October 8th this year flowing through to Caulfield Cup, Cox Plate ( best day of racing all year ) than the week at Flemington. In Sydney there is Everest day on the same day as the Caulfield cup as well. Lots and lots and lots of money to go through bookies over that month in both Melbourne and Sydney.
