I wouldn't be invested if I wanted them to give up and nor do I propose that. My logic is that they should continue to deliver according to their plan and the SP will inevitably take care of itself. It's a long way from what you're pretending I am saying.
Buybacks, by their very nature, create value, but it is up to the markets to realise that value via increased SP or not. It is not for buybacks to create an increased SP. Your view is very naïve.
What price the company buyback runs at has no bearing on day-to-day 'value' and should have no bearing on sentiment. The stock is either cheap here or it is not, and that has nothing to do with buyback price.
And you are saying the company should buy the shares at a higher price but you don't even want to pay current prices? Explain how you can demand one and live the other??
The board is creating shareholder value (imv), please explain how they are not?
