I am a bit confused by the Board/Management of HLI. In previous buybacks they seemed stuck on paying up to NTA of $3.80. Then that seemed to change to a limit of $4 based on something I am not aware of. Yesterday the price that the company did the buyback ranged to $4.05. I cannot see a plan here. Am I wrong but happy to get views. Also the company had been talking about getting the PCA back in the range of 1.4 to 1.6 times and as far as I can see they have never got close. Am I missing something here as well?
If a buyback is supposed to increase the share price of the stock the only way I can see I benefit from that is if I sell my shares. Capital gains tax. If the company has no franking credits to hand out what is the difference between paying capital gains tax on a share sale and the company giving me the capital where I may have to pay tax?
Probably silly questions
