I was re-reading some old docs on northern water project, and this stood out.
My reading of this is: regardless of where the desal plant is built, the project will deliver water to Cape Hardy.
If the plant doesn't end up at Cape Hardy, there might be design changes required (and extra build costs) associated with the slurry pipeline and other related infrastructure. No idea on this, or what it would cost.
As far as I know - which admittedly ain't much (not investment advice etc etc) - the location of the desal plant itself may be a bit of a red herring/least of our worries. The main thing is that it gets built at all, and that water is delivered to Cape Hardy.
Let's see what Amp does with their land purchase option now that the h2 tax credits are emphatically in play, and now that labor are looking solid at a state and federal level probably into the 2030s. They've extended their option to 30 June.
For me, it's a wait and see.
