I'm aware of the upper price limit imposed on buybacks (5% above previous 5-day VWAP). That has not really been a limiting factor as price action has been flat to down.
"your limited to a % of the previous days trade excluding what you bought yourself" - I don't know about this rule and couldn't really find anything in this respect. But happy to learn more if you could point me in the right direction. Via Google I found this document: https://www.asx.com.au/documents/rules/Chapter07.pdf ... I'm not sure that's the complete set of rules governing buybacks on ASX. It has the "upper price limit rule" (see above) but it does not mention any volume or size constraints based on the previous day's trading activity.
