'also pretty clear where the share price goes when there is no buyback'
We have had numerous down days since the buyback started, 4th of December alone was -3.81% (yesterday with no BB was -1.98%). We also had numerous decent up days in few months prior to buyback starting (+4.87%, +3.39%, +6.35%, +8.15%, +8.52%, +15.07%, +4.29%). On numbers alone your statement doesn't really hold water.
