There's no compulsory time limit to cancel the share bought back.
The shares bought back, can be cancelled during the buy back time, ASIC requires to lodge cancellation within 28 days (The 28 days are for the lodgment only). Or, shares can be cancelled after completion of the share buy-back.
This is the least to worry about. Any shares being bough back, will be simply cancelled at latest, short after the completion of the share buy-back.
i.e. OFX, they cancel shares periodically, while CTD hasn't cancelled any shares for over a year as the buy-back is not completed yet.
