My gut feel is that the shorting is being primarily driven as a means of driving down the SP with a takeover in mind, rather than the ostensible reason usually given by its supporters, of attacking an overvaluation.
If, as I believe, it is now so widespread in the market, that the negative former outweighs the (possibly) positive latter it should be BANNED.
Also, my other gut feel is that the main objective of the SBB is to increase the % of SOI that are in 'safe hands'.
