I don't really know how. I presume that some of the net shorts, are borrows between inter group funds. It has happened a few times since Jan 1 2025 when I started to collect the data, on the 2/1, 3/1, 9/1, 13/1, 22/1 and 18/3. The gross figures are those reported to the asx and some groups may be late in reporting. I find the short data to be very difficult to interpret. I always feel I only ever have half a story with the data that is being reported. In particular that 700,000 after market cross trade on the 6/3 was a short cover. How did a demand of 700,000 shares not go through the market. Who gathered them and then gave them away at that price considering of the 25 previous closes only 5 or so we below the price of 12.59.
