Thanks, but the only mechanism that would make sense to me is a put option, not an outright short. If you want to buy 1k shares long, if you short 1k shares to hedge your position, we'll, you've just cancelled out your future profits from the longs. You'll be a net zero in all scenarios (minus transaction costs)
