Interesting that it's only a 3-month extension.
Two things stood out to me regarding Saphire in the recent project update.
- These units produce 3 tonnes net a year, so the fact that they've pre-sold 2 tonnes for the last 6 months of 2025 means there isn't much left over for marketing purposes. Two units will not be enough for 2026.
- They've said they hosted a site visit from an optics customer who potentially wants greater than 100% of 2026 production. With a decision due soon, are they hinting that they have a customer who wants to buy all of phase B production? Maybe I'm wrong, but surely the production forecast for 2026 is not Phase A only.
The market may present an opportunity in the next few days, or it may not; either way, it's not a big deal IMO. If they didn't seem to be making progress on any front, then maybe it would be cause for concern, but that is clearly not the case.
