Now that we have that out of the way, we can say what they are actually doing.

As 'Previous clinical trials have shown that BIT225......... induces important immune system changes that indicate improved health outcomes in HIV-positive people commencing antiretroviral treatment for the first time. This new trial will further investigate the impact of BIT225 in people who have been taking approved anti-HIV-1 treatment (ART) for an extended period....... but not achieved full immune reconstitution despite long term durably suppressive ART.

Paraphrasing now, 225 has shown efficacy in those who just commenced HIV treatment, but now they want to see if it will do the same in those on HIV treatment for an extended period. Afterall, we have previously seen that it unmasks HIV from hidden macrophage cells that regular ART treatment has no efficacy. If it did, then patients would have been cured. But, present day ART, does not clear hidden HIV, resulting in patients having to remain on ART forever, so BIT225 will be finally tested for its 'vaccine like effect' in long term sufferers.

Just for kicks, for those not aware, protease inhibitors - aka, the likes of what Pfizer is trialling for COVID - is what makes up most of ART therapy.

The mind boggles. Imagine of the forthcoming SARS2 human trials has the same results in the first instance as the ACE2 engineered mice, but then goes on to be efficacious for long COVID.

But that is getting ahead of ourselves, and not just because it is just a pipe dream. Rather, there is likely be a lot less long COVID once initial treatment stops COVID early.
