It’s a legal requirement to get APRA’s approval for a share buy back. Put yourself in the shoes of the APRA suit having to make a decision to approve - AMP has a habit of issues blowing up and losing money. They also have possible legal claims from all the busi eases that they sold. The APRA suit doesn’t want to be the one to approve the buyback and then see AMP go belly up. So the suit will be ultra cautious about approving until all significant legal issues have been resolved.
