ML seems like a reasonable explanation for crazy valuations of art and crypto especially NFTs with crazy valuations. Basically you have some black market actor with a lot of cash they want to give artificial providence to, they buy a token for next to nothing or make a token then they sell it for a crazy profit, pay the taxes if needed but just dont show the larger hidden transfer of cash to the buyer that is the real payment for he clean money. What I dont get is how after that process is dont that the token involved goes on to maintain or grow any value. The buyer with the clean money will have the token and they know its really worthless, its in their interest to pretend otherwise and sell it for pure profit but how does that not just crash the token value at that point. Its the delusional nature of the people buying at that point in the process that has me scratching my head. Maybe the sellers are just masterful at offloading worthless things but if they have that skill why do they even bother involving themselves in money laundering when they have essentially the ability to print money and have people think its real and valuable. I like thinking through the process end to end and it just does not seem plausible for my part in this to have been profitable as a person jumping in at what would have to be the dumping stage. But then again here we are holding PEN after so many capital raisings which is an equivalent to money printing but with PEN we have an expectation of our money going into capital raisings going into growing and maintaining assets yet the tokens that have no such expectation grow. Maybe its because securities are not divorced from reality that they cant support as delusional of an expectation though.
