It's pretty crazy what MD's on the ASX can get away with without consequences (from the board, shareholders etc).
Not just referring to CE, we have Jzzzz across the pond (one of the worst culprits on the ASX) and unfortunately I hold other stocks with absolutely useless management who've driven the respective value of their companies into the ground through sheer incompetence.
Shareholders make decisions based on the information provided by the company - when that information is so left field of actuality, that then turns into misinformation that shareholders unknowingly use to do their due diligence. Of course I understand that situations change from 'then' and 'now', but there has to be a limit between those inaccuracies and the full-360 decisions (ie decisions contrary to what the company has advised/stated) that actually end up decimating the value of the stock. Not only the value, but probably more importantly, risking the overall position of the business.
Where is the line drawn?
I thought CE was different to these other ASX-cowboys, and I went to bat for him on multiple occasions, so it's a shame to see this change after a series of bad decision making to the detriment of shareholders.
Pending how the Renard outcome goes down -- it may have ultimately been in everyone's best interest if Renard never came across the table in the first place - worked on further expanding the great resource they have and feasibility studies in a greenfield project, likely would have resulted in a lucrative agreement to get the project established.
