"The applications cover many of the strategic raw materials identified under the CRMA, including Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt and Graphite for batteries, as well as rare earth elements for permanent magnets. They span all the stages of the value chain with 77 applications focused on extraction, 58 on processing, 30 on recycling and five on substitution."
Likely the Lithium and Nickel/Cobalt projects will suffer from economic viability; so the EU will need to workout the extent of their support.
Sweden of instance seems to be the monopoly winner for Graphite. I assume at this stage EPM makes for economic case for Quartz (feed stock for Silicon metal and or ceramics).

"At present, Portugal is the only EU Member State to mine and process lithium. It produces a relatively small supply of lithium that is used for ceramics manufacturing."

"The French government has been negotiating a rescue package for the loss-making New Caledonian nickel sector, including a commitment to supply Europe’s battery supply chain, though talks have stalled amid political tensions between pro-independence and loyalist parties."

"Sweden is the only EU member state set to produce spherical graphite material through to 2040"
Ursula did mention Greenland was to have it own REE beneficiation/separate onshore but this will depend EU Global Gateway - at this point we are yet to see a roadmap for Greenland, the MOU was signed back in Dec 2023. (looking at other regions - the roadmap is overdue, but this might have been delayed until the EU CRMA had time to roll out and be clearly defined).
