That same argument can be made for the vines being planted up the Bendigo hills, changing the look of the landscape also. Or the urban sprawl of the towns exploding in population in Central Otago that are changing the landscape forever. My understanding is that if it is an open cut mine it will only be visible from Queensberry hills and from planes.
