CWS as we have crossed paths on other investments I’d suggest you give this one a wide berth unless its for a short term trade given leverage to the zinc price (my opinion only). The company & certain paid brokers sold retail investors dreams of $5+ share prices while the reality was that they consistently underperformed operational targets and their management (now ex-mgmt) have been happy to sell their shares to retail holders, leaving the company with a massive amount of debt. The Goro deal was an attempt to pull a rabbit out of the hat which also came with a large amount of risks (why Vale left imo).
On your 2nd question my view is that Vale have looked at the enviro/local protest risk and are keen to get out given the issues they have had in Brazil and it has been loss making for a number of years.
