I see you've been fooled by active managers. The point of passive investing is to cease and desist from sinking disproportionate amounts of time and attention into your portfolio, which they have helped me do.
Me sleeping and night and achieving index returns, and receiving a chunk of cash in my bank account via dividends + rent every week/month/quarter while my capital grows over time, means more to me than splicing and dicing the market and dealing with minefields of awful companies or trying to find a good active manager who can beat the index by 1% a year (holy goly, that's going to make a difference).
This active versus passive debate isn't your problem or your place to deal with as a retail investor. It's an issue for active managers at a professional level. Your job is to simply make money in the least stressful way possible.
Heaven forbid how much life expectancy this Magellan saga reduced from investors foolish enough to dabble in this money pit.
