I think both gobris & pooslice have valid points.

Carbon credits can be purchased to offset carbon emissions if required, although overall profitability would be reduce. However, based on previous announcements the "supercritical' water testing that is underway has hinted that emissions have the potential to be minimal..... so carbon offsetting may not be such a big factor anymore.

At the commencement of the Alpha project given the political climate at the time maybe the companys focus was different and offsetting carbon emissions was the priority consideration to the success or not of the venture.

So who really knows what's going on......

The MD clearly said in May that Alpha and Geothermal are stand alone projects. They figured out how to produce bitumen with no emissions.

A company is not confined to one project. Most of the current workload is, I imagine, at the third party consultant level. We don’t want the MD sitting there twiddling his thumbs.

Extra projects makes the company dynamic.
