in Indoneisa, they are requiring foreign entities to divest 51% of stake to Indonesia over a 10 year period ... so in essence, Indonesians will always own 51% of the company ....

compared to that, the new laws in Mongolia are far less stringent ... they are asking the bidder to seek government approval before a T/O, so it is at the government's discretion to approve ... just like the FIRB in Australia wants to have a say whenever an overseas bidder launches a T/O on an Australian resource-based company ... the only difference is the perception on the Chinese ... they are NOT ruling out majority ownership, just want to be selective ... seems like they like the Indians a fair bit ...

fair enough outcome i'd say ... and the company has stated in the announcement that it is providing certainty for the future... so move on ...
