The only consolation is that if it had been announced a month ago the refinancing deal for the $90m would have been much harder to complete. No doubt SI had been able to say to Oaktree that a big name like Novartis was on the cusp of doing a deal that "could be worth as much as a billion dollars" instead of a big name like Novartis "just completed a detailed analysis and walked away".
I guess we have to wonder when SI knew that the deal was in trouble and why he wasn't more transparent about the conditions that kept it in limbo for so long?
