SI has issue(s) with Big Pharma. He is, IMO, at heart, a good person (I am putting aside my thoughts on him as a CEO).
A likely issue he has with Big Pharma is that they want to slice and dice MSB. Meaning they will, for example, want to make $$$ on ARDS and cease all other applications. In doing so they strengthen themselves and don't allow other rivals to be strengthened by receiving a solution via MSB for HCF, CLPB, etc etc etc.
Why do I think SI wants MSCs to be used widely for many applications? Because even whilst the world is falling down around his ears, he is still looking to broaden the reach. He is putting the solutions and help for mankind beyond the grab for cash. I suspect he is holding out to ensure MSC's get used far and wide, not just in laser form.
Lot's of people have commented similar to the above. I reckon it is close to the mark - look at recent announcements and you will piece together that he is still swinging. He wants what he wants and I think he wants to reduce inflammation across all disease. I've watched him talk about it a few times.
He's on the edge of madness and genius. I'll give him this - he's a goer! Where are we going? I have no idea but I'm still on the ride.
He might not get us there but I think he is honorable as a person and wants the best outcomes for people.
I will switch back to what I think of him as a CEO in five......four......three.....
