At a CEO level, anything under 12 months would look terrible on a resume, and could prevent any future appointment into a CEO role at another company.
This is a promotion for the beast, and no doubt he would want to prove his skills. Imagine how sought after he would be if he can turn this ship around.
Either way, I see him sticking around for 12-24 months as a minimum.
