Wichita is a really good choice. As carbondriver says, a number of aircraft manufacturers are based there. But more importantly Spirit, a major manufacturer of composite parts for Boeing and Airbus has a major centre in Wichita. Lots of qualified staff, overflow work from Spirit...
The key aspect is potential short term contracts as you need several years to invest and qualify a new line. Nothing is more expensive than an idle factory. You need the kind of work which does not need a AS9100 certification to give you time to get it - 2 years probably after the equipment is installed and staff trained. Large drones parts may not need a full AS9100 certification.
Gutsy move but not a crazy one. The US is where aerospace and Defence really happen.
