I think WOW management needs to take a look at the people approving some of these ideas. The poor CEO has just joined not too long ago and is going to get blamed for atrocious missteps that don't seem to be her fault. She was in charge of the digital arm which seemed to be pretty ok but other departments in WOW are running amok and need to be reigned in. If she can put an end to the following and turn this around WOW might actually become a buy. The moat is strong, but the signs of decline need to go away.

    1. Cost of living crisis claims about price gouging can be properly defended with an educational campaign that uses the truth. WOW is not behind inflation, the money printing is.

    2. Stop corporate waste with dumb ideas like the "efficiency plans" these workers are striking over. They apparently reduce productivity and put workers in danger which = worksafe claims. They are detached from the reality on the ground. Or is a 50m loss "efficient"? The plan will eventually get scrapped anyway because it's clearly bad enough to force a strike, which is not common.

    3. Stop the social campaigns. I don't have any personal care about these but every shareholder should be against them purely on the basis that in today's polarised world if you are pro 1 side, you antagonise the other side. For a business that depends on people shopping there, you do not want to antagonise customers. Yet it seems some elements within the company consider it their moral obligation to say something about issues (even if they are good issues) without understanding they have an obligation to shareholders not to destroy or even erode the company's standing.

    4. Understand what social license means. My viewpoints are formed from reading what consumers really think about the company. Go on social media and have a read yourself and you'll quickly see how amazing it is that a company with a moat this strong has managed to antagonise large but diverse segments of the population. The business depends on social license, which is not the same as point number 3.

Surprised @JCoure has not weighed in on this yet lol
