Public servant pension manager Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation is in late stage talks to acquire a $400 million-plus stake in Uniti Group as part of the broadband networks owner’s $3.4 billion takeover.
It is understood Commonwealth Superannuation Corp is lined up to take a 20 per cent stake in the privatised Uniti Group, in an investment that would be managed by Trans Tasman infrastructure firm Morrison &Co.
Morrison’s expected to take another 30 per cent for one of its own funds - its new Morrison & Co Investment Partnership - while Canada’s Brookfield would speak for the other 50 per cent.
The consortium’s believed to have all-but completed due diligence on Uniti Group and is in late stage negotiations around the scheme implementation deed, which is the binding takeover documentation. The talks are understood to be at $5 a share, which is the same price Morrison and Brookfield offered to retain sole rights to Uniti’s data room and pole position for the takeover.
