I got out of this stock about two years ago but not before booking some heavy losses. My main reason was that I believed the Magellan brand had been trashed beyond redemption. I still think this. It should rebrand or sell out to another fund manager.
I’m afraid ‘brand Magellan’ is associated with the Hamish Douglass debacle as well as years and years of underperformance. Attracting inflows is just a very difficult assignment for Magellan given this recent history.
