Principles still apply US or AU. Loads of people do it, but technically you can't simply sell at EOFY, get the tax office to wear your losses and start anew in the next tax year. SHows how crap tax accountants are that they don't apply/inform. ATO aint gonna audit smaller returns so goes unchecked.
