@Undaunted, it's good to be reminded that mgmt (and the board) are backtracking on the original plan: Develop enough of resource to make a restart a sensible idea and then lay out a clear mining plan. Get to a safe place and reduce risk. I'm deeply an optimist and my weakness is not focussing on stuff like this.
The justification as everyone here who is not in a rush to restart have said is that they are killing (in a good way) the MRE growth - so much so that any mining plan would already be out of date - AND cost inflation makes a restart more risky. They have moved from Fear mode to Greed mode I guess you could say.
Also, I do feel like SL is over hyping the company atm - talking about confidence about gold in the ground that is not proven (based on what's released to the market so far) is risky. What if he is wrong? His wonder boy image may be wrecked and that's not good for Spartan.
The Money Miners clearly think he is out on a limb, mostly having sold out. The market cap suggests the market thinks high grade (even 3g/t) at DGP (ignoring NN) is a long shot. We are being priced as maybe a 100koz producer that will be diluted getting into production and due ot not having great UG mining experience and a complex Gilbey's pit to navigate, will make middle of the pack margins.
However, all that aside, I'm backing him. Let's be clear: He is hyping the chances of near-term events. He literally has a clock ticking - by June he will look like a genius or a bit of a clown, depending how Sly Fox and the Purple Zone turn out. He must know this, why would he take the risk unless he thought it was a strong bet.
Or so my optimist's logic goes.
Anthony Kavanagh from Chester AM clearly wants to keep his chips on the table. He wasn't willing to argue the point, but there was not hint of agreement that Spartan was a fizzer.
I also don't care how many interviews SL does, the more the better. It's hard to cut through, any attention is good etc. Any retail investors I know do almost zero work scanning for companies - ideas come to them and if SL is out there in a tutu with a Never Never logo, more power to his slide-presenting elbow.
