I wonder if we're being given the full story here? Yes the increased production from brine supply is great, but with MOP shortages and strong prices, it may be better (or even unavoidable) to hold production at the original 120kt pa and use less MOP. As a guide, current MOP prices add about US$25M pa in Opex (+US$600/tn @ 42kt MOP = US$148/tn cost increase @ 170kt pa SOP). Fortunately this is offset by higher SOP prices as well. However, the MOP situation totally changes the financials and is something I'd like to see addressed in their presentations.
