Prior to the worst (non-existent) energy policy of 10 years of the worst government in the history of this country the lowest the AGL share price sunk previously was around $10 back in 2008. We absolutely need to keep some stability for a few more years at least to let investment take its course and build out more supply, not stuff around with pipe dreams of nuclear. Pursuing this nonsense has a real impact.
The same government trashed telco policy in the same way. Anyone still on HFC or copper is cursed with unreliable low bandwidth AND it trashed profitability in the AU telco sector for a decade. In NZ without a government looking out for their media mates they got fast reliable broadband AND a profitable telco industry.
