I often disagree with Baldy regarding his comments on the energy scene in Australia, but he is spot on here. All, (brown and black) coal power stations are over 40 years old and at an age where reliability can only be increased (or maintained) by a large injection of funds. Just last week it was suggested that Eraring closure be delayed by 4 years. Origin have already said they planned for closure this year and will require assistance to operate for another 4. Surprise, surprise, AGL will do exactly the same wrt to Bayswater ad LYA. Meanwhile our expensive and valuable gas will be used to shore up supplies to accommodate the delays in transitioning to a renewable economy.
