still haven't read the watt clarity article have you? I referenced that article as it refers to delays in the transmission network build for the Orana REZ to 27-28... which is actually why the nsw government is in talks with earring.
that rez itself if 4.5gw (let's call it 1.6gw base load equivalent in that zone alone) combination of batteries, wind and solar. the article goes on to question the necessity of extending earring due to the new renewable capacity that is expected to be operational on the NEM by 2026 (an additional 10gw from installed capacity from the 2022 report which the nsw government is working its timelines off).
as I have said before... it is very clear that you and I have VERY different views on whether renewables can be built as quickly as they are needed to replace the aging coal plants, which are becoming more expensive to maintain, less reliable and also so inflexible that they are in effect making it harder for newer forms of generation to operate efficiently/economically because coal generation can only be lowered so far per unit in operation... and it takes hours to bring a unit online / take offline
