Totally agree with last paragraph and that is my point, we are heading for disaster, the plan is flawed as it is not a transition plan the coal plants baseload capacity cannot be replaced in the given timeframes, and their age means that they cannot keep operating without an inefficient capital injection. Also to replace base load with intermittent source require generation AND enough storage.( and power transmission) If all three are not completed then the system is not complete. So it is a flawed argument to say we have enough but because of lack of power lines they can't function at full load. Curtailment means capacity factor is even lower.
The elephant in the room has been ignored also, that a significant percentage of our 11GW existing wing turbines will be at end of life by 2035, so another short fall. The end of life is quite severe, with foundations being subject to removal, obviously because after 20 years the risk of failure is increasing,
