It is an interesting discussion because it has a parallel in 2 types of investors. An example of where intelligent people can take either side and argue forever. That is, between Value investor and Chartist.
A Value investor believes there's a true value (in Galileo's camp) and a Chartist in simple term believe a SP is riding up and down various trends & SP value is just where its at (more in Missionx's camp I would think)
Either side has countless arguments - but will never agree because they are coming from different perspectives.
