The added bonus is sovereign security.
You wouldn't want to own shares in any African miners.
The socialist ANC in South Africa has been promoting nationalisation of its mines but has now realised that they don't have the expertise to run them. So now they want to introduce a 50% Mining Rental Tax instead.
